Message from the Pacific Crest Trail Association:
"On journeys long and short, hikers and horseback riders pass through many of America’s wilderness crown jewels along the Pacific Crest Trail.
But the trail is about more than mountains and geography. It’s about people and the idea that we, as a society, can preserve our most wild and beautiful places so that future generations can see what we have seen and feel what we have felt. The Pacific Crest Trail Association is singularly focused on keeping this path wild and open for future generations."
In the San Diego section of the Pacific Crest Trail, hikers traverse the Anza Borrego Desert and the mountains of the Cleveland National Forest.
The trail dips into Anza-Borrego Desert State Park at Scissors Crossing, and then winds through the San Felipe Hills and lesser mountains of the Cleveland National Forest crossing S22 at PCT mile marker 101.7, 1 mile west of Mountain Valley Retreat.
